Proper Disposal Methods
So, you’ve decided to switch to some greener alternatives – how are you supposed to dispose of all the leftover chemical cleaners in the house? The subject is somewhat controversial, with some parties believing that you should use up what you have, and others believing it’s better to just get rid of everything. No matter what you’re decision, make sure to follow a few basic rules for emptying out old containers.
Always make sure to read the labels of your household cleaners prior to disposal. Many include disposal instructions, warnings against improper methods, or references for local waste companies. Do NOT pour anything down the sink drain, shower drain, toilet bowl, or outdoor drainage ditches. Check with your local organizations or poison control center to determine the best way to dispose of any and all chemical cleaners. Although most cleaners are water soluble, it’s best to check for the most appropriate methods before disposing. |
